Welcome to the Canadian AHEPA Family Web site!

The American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) is one of the largest Hellenic heritage groups in the world and is a major community service organization in North America. Included in the AHEPA Family is the women's group, Daughters of Penelope; the Sons of Pericles (the junior order of AHEPA); and the Maids of Athena (the junior order of the Daughters of Penelope). While founded in the United States in 1922, the AHEPA organization has branched out to include chapters throughout Canada, Greece, Cyprus, New Zealand and Australia.

Canada's first chapter was established in Toronto, Ontario in 1928. Chapters then flourished to include involvement of chapters in Ontario, Quebec, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia.

The AHEPA Family in Canada donate $50,000 to DOP Hellas to plant 4,000 olive trees in fire ravaged areas of Greece

On July 1st at 3:30 pm, just before the Canadian affairs Committee meeting, all the Canadian AHEPA and DOP delegates and non delegates along with AHEPA Hellas DOP District Governor Georgia Zaharakis and her lodge, Supreme President Ike Gulas and others (approximately 30 to 40 people) gathered to sign the historic agreement between the AHEPA Family Charitable Foundation of Canada and the Daughters of Penelope Hellas.

This was the first time such an international agreement of cooperationhas been signed between the AHEPA families of two countries.[more …]

New Presidents elected to the positions of Canadian President of AHEPA and Canadian President of the Daughters of Penelope

The AHEPA Family in Canada are proud to announce the election of Brother Nick Aroutzidis and Sister Diane Polesello Lygouriatis to the offices of Canadian President of AHEPA and Canadian President of the Daughters of Penelope respectively. Both were endorsed by the membership at their respective District Conventions and elected to these positions at the Supreme National Convention, which took place in Athens Greece in July 2008.
